Welcome to
Joliet
Joliet is Route 66's first stop out of Chicago — and home to the Old Joliet Prison made famous by The Blues Brothers (1980). The prison was decommissioned in 2002 and now offers daily tours.
The 1926 Rialto Square Theatre, the 'Jewel of Joliet,' is a Rapp & Rapp vaudeville palace still hosting live shows. The Joliet Area Historical Museum doubles as the official Illinois Route 66 Welcome Center.
