Welcome to
Amboy
Amboy is the iconic Mojave Desert ghost town on Route 66 — anchored by Roy's Motel & Cafe (1938) and its towering neon sign. Owner Albert Okura purchased the entire town in 2005 and has been restoring it ever since.
Amboy Crater, a 79,000-year-old extinct volcano cinder cone, sits a few miles west and is a National Natural Landmark. The drive into Amboy from either direction is one of the most cinematic stretches of all of Route 66.
