Shamrock St. Patrick's Day Celebration

The town of Shamrock — named after the Irish symbol — hosts one of the biggest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Texas. A massive parade down Main Street kicks off the festivities, followed by live Irish music and dancing, a beard contest, chili cook-off, carnival rides, and a special Centennial tribute at the U-Drop Inn. Over 10,000 visitors attend annually.

Midpoint Cafe Centennial Pie Fest

Adrian celebrates the Route 66 Centennial at the famous Midpoint Cafe — exactly 1,139 miles from both Chicago and Santa Monica. The cafe's legendary 'ugly crust' pies will be served all day.

The full Texas stretch (186 miles) can be driven in about 3 hours without stops, but plan a full day with Cadillac Ranch, Big Texan, and Midpoint Cafe.
