Shamrock
Art Deco masterpiece on Route 66
Shamrock greets eastbound travelers with the stunning U-Drop Inn, a 1936 Art Deco filling station and cafe designed by JC Berry. Now a National Historic Landmark and visitor center, the building's sweeping canopy and tower are among the most photographed structures on the entire Mother Road.
The town's Irish heritage — it was named by an Irish immigrant sheep rancher — gives Shamrock one of the most spirited St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the Southwest. The Pioneer West Museum rounds out a worthwhile stop with exhibits on regional ranching and oil history.
