While Aspen gets much of the attention when it comes to Colorado vacation destinations, Breckenridge offers equally amazing activities and scenery. Don’t miss these attractions the next time you’re in town, whether it’s for the day or a longer stay.
Breckenridge Ski Resort
The biggest draw of this town is unsurprisingly the excellent ski and snowboarding opportunities. With 187 trails and several terrain parks, the total ski and ride area spans nearly 3,000 acres. When you’ve worked up an appetite, grab a bite at one of the many on-mountain eateries. Choose from Sevens, TBar, Ski Hill Grill, The Living Room, 9600 Kitchen, and Park Avenue Pub. These are just a handful of the spots serving up excellent cuisine.
Breckenridge Alpine Garden
Even if you’re not into flowers and plants, the Alpine Garden is worth a visit. Supported by the local Summit County Garden Club and located on the bank of the Blue River, this gorgeous botanical garden is a great spot to sit and enjoy a picnic among the plants, or just to admire the natural beauty that surrounds you.
Dillon Reservoir
Also known to locals as Lake Dillon, this fresh water reservoir in neighboring Frisco is a favorite for boating and fishing. The Frisco Bay Marina offers pontoon and fishing boat rentals, and paddle boats like kayaks and canoes are also permitted in designated areas. The reservoir is surrounded by campgrounds if you want to extend your day trip and stay a while.
Main Street Breckenridge
Eat, browse, and shop ’til you drop on the town’s historic main drag, which is home to more than 200 retailers, galleries, and restaurants. With well-maintained sidewalks and beautiful mountain views, it’s the perfect place for a stroll.
Frisco Adventure Park
Frisco Adventure Park provides fun for the whole family all year-round in the form of biking, hiking, and disc golf in warmer months, and skiing, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and tubing in the winter. Extreme sports aficionados can take advantage of the on-premise skate park.
Backstage Theatre
In business for more than four decades, the Backstage Theatre is the place to go in Breckenridge for plays and musicals. The venue hosts both lesser-known productions as well as adaptations of famous shows. Located downtown, it’s a great way to spend an evening in town.
