Best Songs For Your Road Trip Playlist
Let’s face it, there are a lot of things that go into having a great summer road trip; a good itinerary, plenty of snacks, and maybe most importantly, excellent tunes.
A well thought out playlist is only going to enhance your trip, not to mention create some lasting memories. How often do you hear a song come on the radio and immediately smile thinking of a special person or place? That’s what a great playlist is going to be all about.
Since we’re in the prime of summer road trip season we couldn’t pass up the chance to share some do our favorite tunes that are a must for any road trip. So sit back, grab some snacks and load up these songs into your playlist.
“Free Fallin'” – Tom Petty
A road trip classic, this song makes you think of California, ocean waves and the ever important freedom of just hitting the road. Plus, it’s a great sing along for everyone in the car and the perfect way to get the trip started.
“Beautiful Day” – U2
Another sing at the top of your lungs song, U2 helps remind you to enjoy the day. Look out the window, take in the sites and don’t be afraid to stop at some crazy roadside attraction every one in a while.
“End of the World” – REM
Any fan of the epic ode to the road trip movie, Tommy Boy, knows the scene where this song plays a key role in the cult favorite. Embrace your inner silly side and sing along, chances are you’ll perform a little but better.
“I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” – The Proclaimers
This late 80s one wonder hit by a Scottish duo is another must add to any road trip list. Not only does the theme of the song play into the concept of going a distance perfectly, it’s also just a really fun song to sing along to.
“Life is a Highway” – Tom Cochrane
Speaking of literal interpretations, Cochrane’s popular hit will have you belting out the tune as you travel the highways and byways of America during your own trip. It’s hard not to start singing along.
“Home” – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
Save the best for last with this song. Though technically more of a love song, the fantastic beats and funky melody of this tune makes it the perfect song to have on the radio as you are heading back home.
