Explore the Top Towns in the Nutmeg State
Though many consider Connecticut to be a sleepy state tucked away in New England, there is actually quite a bit of variety of beauty that the Nutmeg State has to offer.
From rolling pastoral hills, to seaside harbor towns, to antique hot spots, there is much to see and do during any trip to Connecticut.
Any visitor to the region knows that there are some towns that just stick out for everything that they offer, and people flock to them again and again.

Wethersfield, CT: Relive the History of America
For true historic charm, dating all the way back to the Revolutionary War, there is no better place to spend a day than Wethersfield. Aware of how important it’s Revolutionary history is, the town has set aside a Historic District which allows visitors to be transported back to the 1700s, wandering through a small neighborhood of homes and buildings.
Westport, CT: Enjoy the Coastline
Much of the coastline of Connecticut is along the Long Island Sound, because of the protection Long Island offers, the beaches suffer from less erosion and the waves are quite calm, perfect for families. One of the top beach towns along the shore is Westport. And, a favorite beach in Westport is Compo Beach, complete with concession stands and restroom facilities.
Shop Till You Drop
If you love nothing more than spending a weekend afternoon along windy tree lined roads searching for antiques, then Putnam has to be your next destination. Known as an “antique hunter’s paradise,” this sleepy village shows off its wares in just about every store you can find. There in the summer? Take in More Culture
For those who are more interested in culture than the waves and shopping, try making your way towards Torrington. This charming and quaint historical town is well known for the variety of plays, musicals, events and shows it hosts during the year. To take part, head to the Warner Theater, which hosts over 150 different events all year round.
As you can see, there is far more to do in Connecticut that you probably thought. There is truly something for everyone packed into this tiny state, and it is well worth a visit.
Take the time to enjoy it during the summer months and see the beaches, travel the backroads during the fall and take in the changing leaves, and bring your camera for the wintery beauty as snow dusted across the countryside gives it a whole new look.
