Here are more scenic drives to enjoy in the United States, this time, from Montana to Ohio.  

(Montana) Going-to-the-Sun-Road 

Going-to-the-Sun Road is a well-known 50-mile scenic drive in Glacial National Park that you definitely don’t want to miss out on. Discover why this road completed in the 1930s is now on our list of Historic Places. You will pass by every kind of terrain including glacial lakes, cedar forests, and rugged cliffs. 

(Nebraska) Highway 71

If you’re looking for a good drive to clear your head and take in beautiful sights, Highway 71 is the place to do it. It’s one of the least traveled roads in the entire state, meaning you won’t have to worry about many other drivers. It will just be you, the open road and hopefully some good music. 

(Nevada) Loneliest Highway

This quiet road is a transcontinental highway that goes all the way from California to Maryland. No traffic, no people, no problem. If you’re lucky, it will just be you and plenty of wide-open spaces.

Pro tip: Make sure to use the restroom before you go, fill up your gas tank, and pack enough snacks. There are a few small towns along the way to stop at, but they are far and few between. 

(New Hampshire) American Independence Byway 

What can you expect on an all American byway? How about some ocean views, apple orchards, and farmer’s markets to start? This 20-mile route will take you through two of the original towns in New Hampshire from the colonial days. 

(New Jersey) Route 542

When most people think of New Jersey, they think of its city life. On Route 542, you can experience its farmland and small-town side with many rivers, creeks, and woodlands along the way. 

(New Mexico) The Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway

Take in the breathtaking desert-meets-alpine New Mexico scenery that’s been the backdrop for several films including the classic, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.  Stop along the way for recreational activities like skiing, fishing, and camping. 

(New York) Route 20 Scenic Byway

This is another transcontinental highway full of history. Originally a Native American trail, many people consider this highway the backbone of New York. 

(North Carolina) Tail of the Dragon 

If you love curvy roads and mountain views, take a drive on the Tail of the Dragon. But this route is not for the faint of heart. There are many curves in a very short distance; over 300 to be exact. For this reason, it’s become a popular road for motorcyclists and sports cars. So, be careful. 

(North Dakota) Enchanted Highway

If you’re looking for a scenic road trip route with a bit of a twist, try this Enchanted Highway in North Dakota. It’s a road trip with a built-in art display.  The length of the road is lined with gigantic manmade sculptures to enjoy.

(Ohio) Covered Bridge Scenic Byway

If you have a love of bridges, you will absolutely appreciate this scenic route from Marietta to Alledonia that’s filled with endless outdoor beauty, small towns, specialty stores, and yes, bridges.
