Austin, TX

Take your pick from Austin’s plethora of lakes, as all are perfect for a water skiing adventure. Lake Austin is the most popular spot, and there are a variety of rental facilities and water sports schools to help you get started. Lake Travis is another local favorite if it’s too busy at Lake Austin!

San Diego, CA

Not only is this Southern California city the perfect place to surf and skate … water skiing is a popular pastime as well, thanks to the always-pleasant weather. The El Capitan Reservoir in San Diego not only has a cool name, but it allows both skiing and wake boarding, as well as towed inflatables.

Lake George, NY

A perennial resort destination, Lake George is laid-back and family-friendly, offering both campgrounds and resort accommodations in the middle of the Adirondack Mountains. If you’re new to the water sports world, start off with a lesson at The Adirondack Water Ski and Wakeboard School, which has courses in everything from tubing to wake surfing from Memorial Day through late October.

Palm Beach, Florida

Water skiing is a possibility all year round in South Florida, and Palm Beach is actually home to a world-class competitive set of courses, including one that’s illuminated at night for an unforgettable experience. As long as you have a boat and trailer permit, you’re good to go. Check out the nearby Water Ski Training Center for lessons that cater to both beginners and veteran water skiers.
