Got Tennessee on the brain and can’t seem to shake it? It looks like you’re due for a good ole’ Tennessee vacation. Now promise me that you won’t judge me for this confession, but I’ve never been to Tennessee. I know, I know. I’m embarrassed to admit it but my travels have always taken me to other places and Tennessee hasn’t been one of those places. YET! Don’t think that after writing this article I will ignore the wave “Must Visit Tennessee ASAP” that keeps plaguing me day in and day out. I mean, seriously…what has taken me so long to visit? This state is full of fantastic experiences, great food and even better music. I’ve already made my list of where I will be visiting: Memphis, Nashville and everywhere in between.
Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga – I’m a native Floridian so I’ve visited my fair share of aquariums (honestly, if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all) but one of my best friends recently visited the Tennessee Aquarium and she said that I HAVE to visit it. And why, pray tell? Aside from being the largest freshwater aquarium in the world, this aquatic attraction is home to a slew of aquatic creatures, butterflies and wait for it…penguins! Well, that last part just about sold me. Who doesn’t love penguins?
Elvis Presley’s living room at Graceland in Memphis – Elvis fan or not you simply can’t visit Tennessee without going on some historical tour surrounding one of the greatest musicians of all time. Music lovers will enjoy viewing the King of Rock ‘n Roll’s trophies and cool memorabilia. Visitors will also get a chance to see Elvis’ personally-owned cars and jets.
Ruby Falls in Chattanooga – I’m not much of a nature lover but I certainly know when to be impressed. Ruby Falls is an underground waterfall that I’ve been told is a must see. And by must see, it’s one of those sites that you have to see before you die. I’ve seen pictures of this majestic waterfall but I don’t think pictures do its beauty any justice. I will definitely be visiting Ruby Falls when I visit Tennessee.
Casey Jones Village in Jackson – Are you a history buff that really gets into what happened ‘way back when’? I am too. What’s the point of visiting Tennessee for the first time if I don’t make it my duty to learn a few things about the state? The Casey Jones Village features museums, yummy restaurants and really prides itself on showcasing the history of Tennessee.
