Have you ever explore the great cities of the Lone Star State? Now you can! This Texas road trip itinerary will take you to some of the best destinations in the state.
Suggested Road Trip Itinerary of Texas

Dallas, TX (1 day/night)

Begin your Texas-sized adventure in the city of Dallas, home to impressive sports, shopping and sightseeing.

Unless you’re a big sports fan and are able to snag tickets to a game, we suggest spending your time at one of the following world-class Dallas attractions:

• Dallas World Aquarium
• Dallas Museum of Art
• Dallas Zoo
• Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

Since the art museum and aquarium are just a few blocks away (0.5 mi.), you could walk between them and fit both into a single day of vacation. Find a deal on a great hotel in Downtown Dallas and you’ll be right nearby.

Austin, TX (1 day/night)

Austin, Texas Skyline at NightThe next morning, drive 3 hours from Dallas to Austin, Texas, the hippest city in the Lone Star State. Visiting Austin isn’t about checking items off of a list of attractions. It’s about exploring the unique culture and atmosphere of the city.

We suggest planning your day around three things: city views, restaurants and live music. For the city views, we recommend a hike around Lady Bird Lake.

Austin is a dream city for foodies and music lovers alike. Whether you’re in the mood for Tex-Mex, barbecue or something a little more surprising, you’ll have tons of amazing restaurants in Austin to choose from. And it wouldn’t be a night in Austin without a trip to one of the many music venues boasting live music every night.

San Antonio, TX (1 day/night)

the San Antonio riverwalk.San Antonio is just about an hour and 15 minutes south of Austin. Experiencing this interesting city is best when you get a good mix of the old and the new.

Start off by discovering the five beautiful missions in San Antonio, including the famous Alamo. Then, take a sunset or evening right up The Tower of The Americas, which provides panoramic views of San Antonio.

Houston, TX (1 day/night)

HoustonIt’s about a three-hour drive from San Antonio to Houston, and lots of adventures await your arrival.

Experience the wonder of outer space with a trip to Space Center Houston. With rockets and shuttles on display, simulators and movies to watch, and the iconic mission control room, there’s so much to see. Trust us, your visit to Space Center Houston will be out of this world (pun intended).

You may also like to spend some time at Discovery Green Park in Downtown Houston. Here, you’ll be able to rent a golf cart and play fun lawn games like bocce ball. For something a little different, why not explore Houston’s underground tunnels full of shopping and dining options?

If none of those attractions are up your alley, why not visit one of the free museums in Houston, featuring everything from ancient artifacts to modern art.

Galveston, TX (1 day/night)

Galveston Pier At DuskJust one hour away from Houston, you’ll find the historic and beautiful Galveston Island.

Although there are tons of great places to shop and explore on the island, we recommend a nice beach day to finish off your Texas road trip. We recommend East Beach for a lively atmosphere or Galveston Island State Park for relaxation.

After a nice dinner in town, the ideal way to finish your day in Galveston is to take a ghost tour! The spooky sightseeing in Galveston is among the best in the nation, so don’t miss out on this unique way to see the town.
