Fort Collins may not be as well-known as Denver and Boulder, but it’s a haven for cycling enthusiasts and craft beer aficionados … not to mention, just a wonderful place to visit. Don’t miss these spots when you stop by.

Old Town Historic District

Spend a whole day exploring this fun and charming neighborhood, which is full of cafes, bookstores, and boutiques. To add to its quaintness, the city offers trolley rides through the main thoroughfare. Or, head to the Downtown Visitors Center to pick up a map, which allows you to stroll around at your leisure on a self-guided walking tour.

Breweries

Fort Collins is renowned for its breweries, many of which offer tours to thirsty visitors. Try Odell Brewing, Equinox Brewing, Funkwerks, Inc., Horse & Dragon, or Black Bottle to start. There are at least a handful of others to explore, so you could easily plan your vacation around ales, pilsners, porters, and stouts.

Lory State Park

This is just one of the many wide open spaces around town, but might be the most popular. You’ll find all of the traditional activities, including, biking, fishing, picnicking, and hiking — there are more than 26 miles of trails to trek.

Fort Collins Museum of Discovery

When you’ve had enough beer and enough of the great outdoors, take a break to explore science and culture at this fascinating museum. From the Music and Sound Lab to the various exhibits that delve into local people, animals, and food, visitors of all ages can learn something here. For little ones, The Tot Zone brings some of the trickier museum concepts down to toddler level, so they can share the fun.

Annual Flower Trial Garden

You don’t have to be a flower fan to appreciate the abundance of beautiful blooms at this garden, which is on the grounds of Colorado State University and is actually utilized by students and staff in science programs at the college. The best part? It’s completely free and open to the public!
