You’ve heard the old saying: “If you can make it there, you’ll make it anywhere.” But how exactly do you make it in New York City? We can get you started with some of the best places to go when you’re in the Big Apple for a quick visit … once you’ve hit up the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty, that is.

The High Line

Highline NYC 3705376658 529a375621

This rooftop garden and walking path is completely free and open to the public, and draws huge crowds in the spring and summer. Yet, it still manages to feel like an exclusive hideaway in the heart of Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The park offers tours and talks throughout the year at no charge, as well as stargazing opportunities in the spring, summer, and fall.

Momofuku Noodle Bar

These ain’t the ramen noodles you survived on in college! A delicious option for lunch or dinner, Momofuku specializes in savory bowls of the stuff, filled with pork belly, egg, smoked chicken, kale, and a number of other savory additions. But that’s not all; fried chicken, soju slushies, and desserts like candy apple cake truffles and trail mix ice cream from sister bakery Milk Bar round out the menu.

Metropolitan Museum of Art

It wouldn’t be a trip to NYC without visiting one of the city’s foremost cultural institutions. The museum’s current exhibits span the globe, including contributions from India, China, Japan, England, and the US of A. Plan on making a day of it? There are nine on-site dining options, ranging from cafeteria-style to bistro, to choose from.

Broadway!

Broadway shows and New York City go together like peanut butter and jelly. Thanks to all of the half-price ticket booths scattered around town — the most popular being the one in Times Square — it’s easier than you think to score sweet seats for a same-day show at a discounted price. Chicago, Wicked, and Finding Neverland are all hot right now.

The Grey Dog

You’ll feel like one of the locals at the Grey Dog. There are four locations in the city, but the Chelsea outpost is quintessential Manhattan. This neighborhood favorite serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a cozy, funky space with exposed brick and cool artwork. If your french toast or burger was so delicious that you want to remember it forever, you can even pick up a Grey Dog mug or t-shirt as a souvenir on your way out.
