It’s time. It is definitely time. I need a vacation. You know it’s time for a vacation when you can’t even remember the last time you got away. I seriously had to look at my phone’s camera to see when I last documented a trip. My last real vacation was in July of 2012. I really don’t count it as a vacation because I was newly pregnant and miserable. So, yes. It’s time for a vacation. I’ll be going with 3 gal pals and the excitement I have is enormous. I feel like a kid getting ready for the first day of school. Woo hoo! We’ve decided to go to Siesta Key and I’m in charge of getting everything together. I am definitely up to the challenge. I’ve never been to Siesta Key and I always find it so much more fun planning a trip to a place you’ve never been compared to planning a trip to a place you have visited before. There are so many options and so many jewels to uncover. Here’s what I’ve got so far…

Lodging

Because this is a budget trip, we’re going to get a nice place that isn’t insanely expensive. I’ve got my eyes on a property that costs no more than $130/night. That’s roughly $35/person for 2 nights. Not too bad for a resort that happens to be right on the beach.

Activities

My crew of girls and I aren’t really the adventurous types. We would rather get massages than go hiking but for this trip, we have decided to step outside of our comfort zones a bit. Sure we’ve got mani and pedi appointments on our list but we would also love to do some water sports like canoeing, kayaking, water skiing and jet skiing. Also on our list is sailing, visiting the Ringling Museum of Art, taking a historical hour and doing yoga on the beach.

Food

Of course no trip is complete without good eats. Before heading out of town, we plan on doing a quick grocery trip to get breakfast items, snacks and bottled water. This will save us a ton of money. At least one of the nights we are there, we plan on getting all dressed up and dining at a nice restaurant. The other night that we are there we will either cook our own food or order food in and polish our nails and watch movies.

The total cost of the trip of 2 nights and 3 days for 4 people is only $160 per person. Not a bad deal, huh? Stay tuned for an update of our trip! Have you ever visited Siesta Key? Are there any places where we MUST go?
