“West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home to the country roads.” If you know this John Denver song, you know he was quite fond of West Virginia, and there are plenty of reasons why. John Denver didn’t just sing about places he loved for no reason. They meant something to him, and West Virginia was indeed one of those locations.

History

We can’t blame him either. In fact, we want to highlight one particular town in West Virginia. This town is not only one of the most popular for visitors, but also one of the most historical destinations – Harpers Ferry. Harpers Ferry is also home to a National Historical Park full of 19th-century buildings. In addition, a Civil War Museum and John Brown’s Fort, a landmark in a 1859 abolitionist raid.
