No, really! Get outside and take a hike. Hiking is unlike any other work out. Just when I thought hitting the incline on the treadmill was as intense as it gets, I learned a whole new way of getting in shape. If you have never been to California and only hear that the weather is perfect, believe it. There air is lighter, which makes hiking much more enjoyable.

When you’re in Los Angeles and looking for a true tourist hike where you will most likely see a celebrity, check out Runyon Canyon. It is breathtaking and energizing enough to encourage you to hike all the way to the top. The greatest aspect of Runyon Canyon is the amount of people that go for the sole purpose of getting out and getting healthy (not to mention all of the dogs that come out to hike too)! Runyon Canyon is an all around fun and scenic hike that provides a challenging trail for an effective work out.

Other great trails include; Griffith Park, located at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains in the Los Feliz neighborhood; Fryman Canyon, located centrally from Hollywood and Studio City; Bronson Canyon, a section of Griffith Park with a tougher trail; Topanga State Park, a breathtaking, beautiful, peaceful, and challenging trail nestled way up in the Santa Monica Mountains.
