One of the south’s most iconic eateries — in terms of its cuisine, service, and appearance —Commanders Palace is totally old-school cool. From the famous turtle soup and bread pudding souffle to entrees like pecan crusted gulf fish and chicory coffee lacquered quail, Chef Tory McPhail’s menu is impeccable.

Satisfy your cravings for brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and just about any other type of smoked meat at Stubb’s, a Texas institution since 1968. While you can get your fix any day of the week. Sunday’s Gospel Brunch offers live music, a “make your own” Bloody Mary bar, and a full buffet. The restaurant also plays host to concerts from a variety of popular bands and artists.

Poogan’s Porch (Charleston, SC)

Fill up for brunch, lunch, or dinner in a charming townhouse setting at Poogan’s Porch, in the heart of downtown Charleston. Here, you’ll find upscale comfort food, like she crab soup, fried chicken, shrimp and grits. The restaurant is also well-known for its wide variety of wines, as there is a cellar right on premise.
