The Battleship USS Alabama was originally commissioned in 1942 and earned nine battle stars for its Asiatic-Pacific operations during World War II. The ship only operated for 37 months during the war and last ran under its power in 1946. It was towed in 1964 to its current location in Mobile, Alabama. Today it is the centerpiece of the beautiful 175-acre Battleship Memorial Park.
Up and down Florida’s coast you will find beautiful beaches and hidden gems. One of my favorite lesser-known beach havens is Clearwater Beach, Florida. Just a two-hour drive from Orlando, Clearwater Beach has always been known for its powdery, white sandy beaches, beachfront restaurants, and peaceful relaxation. All of those traits are still true, but Clearwater Beach has a new claim to fame too. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is the home of Winter, the famed dolphin star of Dolphin Tale.
Phoenix is an all time favorite travel destination for many around the world for some many different reasons. Specifically for families, there is a wide variety of things to see and do. Ranging from local restaurants, shopping, nightlife, museums and more, you’ll be sure to have a good time here. In this post, we’re giving you ten different things to do with kids while visiting this beautiful town.
My husband grew up in Rhode Island, and since I’m not from the area when we moved back, I became what is referred to as a “Bride of Rhode Island.” Now that we’ve lived here for a while and have children I understand the reason so many Rhode Islanders who have moved away move back to raise their families. Rhode Island provides an incredible quality of life for raising children, from its many beautiful beaches to its fantastic resources for kids; there is always plenty to keep them entertained. Therefore, I thought I’d share some of my favorites with you.
I recently had the pleasure of my in-laws visiting us for an entire week. Being that it was their first time coming to visit us in Miami, I came up with an itinerary to keep them busy and show them the very best that South Florida had to offer.
The very first thing on my list was a visit down to Key West! How could I not take my desert-dwelling in-laws to the most tropical destination in all of the United States?!
While I’ve spent many a relaxing vacations on the white sandy beaches of Key West, pina colada in hand, my in-laws aren’t what you would consider “drinkers,” so my game plan for their visit had to be a little different than it usually is when we make the trip down the 7 Mile Bridge.
The Hudson River Valley in New York is rich in history, nature and fun things to do. The Hudson River, named after the explorer Henry Hudson, stretches from New York City to well past the state capital in Albany. The river region is divided up into the Upper Hudson Valley, Mid-Hudson Valley, and Lower Hudson Valley. The Lower Hudson Valley is an hour drive north of New York City. On the contrary, the Mid-Hudson Valley is approximately two hours north of the city. Within the short driving distance, there is so much to see and do year round.
Travelers are on the move and on their way to New York City. During an economic climate that has been characterized by an increase in unemployment and home foreclosures, it seems people are still hitting the roads to visit the Big Apple.
Looking for something unique to do around the Tampa Bay area? If you’ve already been to a Buccaneers game, ate too many peanuts at a Devil Ray’s game and later made them re-appear on Busch Garden’s Sheikra, perhaps it’s time to switch it up and discover one of the area’s hidden treasures. Grab the kiddies, the girlfriend or old college buddies, and head over to Weeki Wachee Springs.
