We are entering the season of snow days and holidays. Therefore, you’re probably thinking about where to take your family on vacation once the kids are out of school on winter break. This year, we love the idea of a fun snowy getaway to a ski destination. Whether it is New England or out west, there are several resorts and locations that are fun for the whole family.
Take a look at our five picks for this year:
There’s a bit of chill in the air, but who says that you have to bid adieu to summer just yet? We happen to be in one of the hottest states in the U.S. and while many of our Northerner friends are already stacking up on firewood, we are still sporting flip flops and tank tops. Living in such a hot state can bring about a heavy dose of seasonal confusion but if you’re okay with going to the beach in October and November, we’re thinking you should check out some of these awesome properties. They are located in warm weather areas and you’ll be able to get your last summer fix before Old Man Winter comes a rollin’ through.
With a city rich in history and culture such as Washington D.C. it’s a must visit location which plenty of fun for the entire family. In addition, with autumn temperatures in the low 70’s and rain showers few and far between you won’t have to sweat, bundle up or pack an umbrella. Plus, this time of year the fall foliage is gorgeous. And if you’re planning a last minute fall trip, we’ve got you covered with some must see sites around the city.

Here in Orlando, we’re lucky to have an exhibition called Titanic the Experience to walk us through what it might have been like to be an actual passenger on the boat and a tiny taste of what we could have experienced when the ship met its icy grave. Beyond this usual tour, the facility is now offering a special Ghost Tour that takes place every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from it all, but I was quite pleased with the outcome.
When most people think of visiting Florida for vacation they think of theme parks. However, Florida has a lot to offer outside of the tourist center, and that includes our beautiful beaches. The Wyndham Vacation Resort’s Wyndham Royal Vista Pompano Beach, Florida sits directly on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Check-in is a breeze, both figuratively and literally as there are huge palm fronds fanning you at the desk. They are gorgeous and add a sense of style and welcome.
Behind every outing is a chance for learning. When my sister graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design, I was thrilled to be able to take my boys along to celebrate. Nothing encourages education like achievement, and my sister had accomplished something great. My children sat through name after name being called at the graduation ceremony to hear her name and celebrate afterwards.
Although a college graduation was the primary purpose of our trip, it became evident that with such history and culture in Savannah that we had to take our trip to an educational level ourselves. I honestly believe the best form of learning for my boys is learning on the go. They are always intrigued by history, ecology and exploring this planet, so this is what we set off to do.
While we live in an RV, we also take many side trips away from “home,” and stay in motels, just like anyone else would do taking a trip from their home. Our method of traveling gives us the best of both worlds! When we visit with the grandchildren, we usually get a motel room with two double beds and let one of them spend the night with us each night. It makes for some pretty fun “slumber parties,” and lets us get to spend one on one time with them. When they come to visit us, we all pack into the RV and have a campfire in the evening. Since we don’t see them often, when we do, we spoil them rotten!
Page, Arizona is a hot place to go in the summer time. However, but husband and I felt we would be cheating ourselves out of some gorgeous scenery if we didn’t go.
